Training under load
Intentional movement under load means adding external weight to movement for training.
That weight may come from a weighted vest, backpack, weight belt, ankle or wrist cuffs, or other equipment designed to add resistance while you move.
The objective isn't simply to walk farther.
It's to increase the amount of work performed by moving under external load.
The same mile, different work
Imagine three people walking the same one-mile route.
The first walks without added load.
The second wears a 20-pound weighted vest.
The third carries a 40-pound backpack.
All three complete the same mile.
All three record the same distance.
But no one would argue they completed the same amount of work.
The distance is identical.
The workload is not.
